Recorded live in Australia, America, Germany and Denmark, Satsang reveals the power and simplicity of Deva Premal and Miten’s live performances. As it is with satsang meditation, Deva Premal and Miten share their music without applause, inviting the listener to participate by joining with the chant, and by sitting with closed eyes for the duration of the meditation.

The CD includes excerpts from the following books of Gibran Khalil Gibran – The Prophet “and” The processions; of Omar Khayyam – “The Rubaiyat” and Jalal Ud-Din Rumi – “Mystical Poems – Divan of Shams of Tabriz.”

“Mystical Poems of the Orient” is a treatise on Transcendence. Both Music, and Poetry, insist and point to the transience of human dreams and the enduring values of the Spirit. The end result for the attentive listener is a great transformation of consciousness.

Chant the holy name, chant the holy name, chant the holy name of God. In this age of quarrel there is no other way, no other way, no other way to attain spiritual enlightenment.

Her otherworldly voice is trance-like in such songs as the tranquil “Shepherd Moons,” “Angeles,” “Evacuee,” and “Marble Halls.” Accessibly lilting, awash in synth strings, “Caribbean Blue” is this album’s answer to “Orinoco Flow,” Enya’s gigantic worldwide pop hit. The song, as all the others, transports the listener to another place. “How Can I Keep Singing?” is Irish folk music at its best. “Ebudae” is a percussive march with a mushrooming synth, and with its delicate vocals, one must marvel at the beauty of Enya’s keening voice.

In essence, this album can be attributed to the genre of New Age and World Music, But the mantras that chanting in this album (and here not only sloka quoted from the Vedas, but also contains verses from the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads) – so organically woven into the musical accompaniment that sense of reality, or so-called modernity – just lost.

Ulla Pirttijärvi is a Sami artist from Finland. Together with Frode Fjellheim she creates a magical world where the traditional joik is lifted up to new levels, and also mixed with other musical styles. The album takes the listener to all kinds of moods from joy to sadness, from relaxation to chaos, from the tranquil nature to the hectic city life.

This album aims to capture that harmony which comes with the mind and body being tuned to the music of the higher spheres, creating an intensely peaceful state that produces an easy sense of beauty and tranquility for the mind, body and soul.
