Ulla Pirttijärvi is a Sami artist from Finland. Together with Frode Fjellheim she creates a magical world where the traditional joik is lifted up to new levels, and also mixed with other musical styles. The album takes the listener to all kinds of moods from joy to sadness, from relaxation to chaos, from the tranquil nature to the hectic city life.

This album aims to capture that harmony which comes with the mind and body being tuned to the music of the higher spheres, creating an intensely peaceful state that produces an easy sense of beauty and tranquility for the mind, body and soul.

Wah! and her band create a seductive blend of devotional chant, pop, and world music – yet the one thread that runs through each of her songs is her heartfelt spiritual presence. Featuring favorites such as “Bolo Ram” and “Is It Love,” The Best of Wah! is an invitation to be carried away on the pure sounds and graceful spirit of this remarkable musician.

Although this beautiful CD is a relaxing accompaniment to whatever you are doing, I like playing it during reiki sessions. The ethereal music is conducive to both client relaxation and my own meditative experience. I particularly enjoy the exotic percussion overlays and hypnotic rhythms found in Magic Flow by Anugama and Dreamcatcher by Kamal. Being able to listen to sample tracks beforehand on Amazon.com inspired me to purchase this CD. Two thumbs up!
