Celestial – Spirit House
23.10.2011
Celestial’s first album, Spirit House, is an engaging blend of styles and sounds. Peter Millward is the group’s mastermind, writing most of the songs and thereby developing a signature sound which draws from a variety of sources, from contemporary worldbeat, pop and new age music to Vietnamese and Chinese folk. There’s nothing overtly challenging on the album. Instead, it’s an inviting set of worldbeat fusion deisgned to stimulate emotions, not the mind. And, according to that criterion, it works very well indeed.

Unforgettable Sufis brings together the eternal poetry of mystic poets, Kabir Sahib and Hazrat Amir Khusrau. The evocative lyrics drawn from their poetry explore the myriad shades of love and spell the rich experience of musical ecstasy. The most fascinating aspect is that these renditions are blend with the melody of Indian Classical music, making this album a timeless gift of love for the yearning souls who long to be in communion with the divine.
Pete Namlook & Burhan Öçal – Sultan Osman
01.08.2011
For the first time this album I heard from their friends. He was already for a long time brought from Turkey. Choose it according to the principle”let us where more than in any of the reels, etc. Apparently the seller looked at his own view of western tourists and decided to offer him something, so too did not hurt his western ears. And that’s turned up for the most appropriate disk – Sultan Osman, who is a rather interesting symbiosis of different genres, where the advantage of without a doubt can be given to ethnic music and electronics. However, among all the other things there are in this album and some special mysticism, especially when it recitate texts monotone voice under strange rhythms, which seems like the closer, then move away. For sure many fans of not simple tunes like the Turkish album.
Dead Can Dance – Spiritchaser
15.08.2010
In most musical instruments the resonator is made of wood while the actual sound generator is of animal origin. In cultures where music is still used as a magical force, the making of an instrument always involves the sacrifice of a living being. That being’s soul then becomes part of the instrument and in the tones that come forth, the ‘singing dead,’ who are ever present with us, make themselves heard.
